Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais (1904-1984)
Dr. Feldenkrais developed the Feldenkrais Method® from his genius when he was faced with a knee injury that threatened his ability to function.
When his surgeon told him he would only have a 50% chance of walking again if he had knee surgery Dr. Feldenkrais decided against having one. He then applied his extensive knowledge from the sciences and martial arts and taught himself how to walk and function pain-free and without causing further damage to his knee.
Dr. Feldenkrais held degrees in mechanical and electrical engineering as well as a Doctorate of Science in Physics. In addition, he was one of the first Europeans to earn a Judo Black Belt under Professor Kano, the creator of Judo.
“Find your true weakness and surrender to it. Therein lies the path to genius. Most people spend their lives using their strengths to overcome or cover up their weaknesses. Those few who use their strengths to incorporate their weaknesses, who don’t divide themselves, those people are very rare. In any generation there are a few and they lead their generation.”
– Moshe Feldenkrais
“Movement is life. Life is a process. Improve the quality of the process and you improve the quality of life itself.”
