Prevailing against the Odds

Dear Students:
I have had the great pleasure to work with Callie and I believe it is very important to tell her story during these strange times.  Callie came to me for help with debilitating migraines that she developed after a severe head injury.  Callie is unable to attach anything to her head, not even a hat, as it can trigger headaches of all degrees.

As one can imagine these days, Callie has been harassed by folks from all walks of life, for not putting a covering over her nose and mouth, even when she shows she is exempt for medical reasons.  She has been hounded by conductors on trains, bothered by employees at stores, and kicked out of groceries by managers, etc.  Even her doctors and other health care practitioners are fearful when working with her.

I have helped many people including myself, with the complex effort of reorganizing movement patterns that create migraines. The emotional piece that goes along with the physical embodiment of a migraine is one of the hardest things to become aware of in the moment.  With that said, it is truly remarkable that Callie has been able to progressively heal despite being bombarded with intimidation from others on a regular basis.  Callie has learned not to take other peoples’ reactions to her pure face personally and as a result prevails.

May we all learn from Callie’s story, to succeed against the odds and to “do unto others as you would do unto yourself”.  To read about Callie’s story from her point of view click: Callie’s Thoughts & Questions.  Peace to all on earth!
